ADHD News Tip # 9: Hook-ups, It's Not What You Think

Hooking-up instead of dating in high school and college is all the
rage. Certainly doesn't encourage mature, healthy relationships. Not
recommended.

On the other hand, Brain Gym's Hook-ups (which has nothing to do
with dating or relationships) is highly recommended for calming
down, focusing, getting grounded and centered.

Sit quietly. Breathe deeply. Cross your right ankle over the left.
Cross your right wrist over the left. With palms together, thumbs
down, and fingers intertwined, bring your hands up under your chin.
If it feels safe, close your eyes.

See a picture of hook-ups at http://www.ADHDChildrenToday.com/articles.htm
Look for "Caleb Sits in Hook-ups" in "Tips, Tricks and Strategies."

Hmm, maybe calming down, focusing, and getting grounded with hook-
ups would help prevent impulsive hooking up among college kids.

Next: Up, Down, Around, and Nod (and it's not as easy as it sounds!)

  1. Where did you find info on hookups? I am writing a term paper and would like to research this topic. My Psychology teacher has never heard of them and therefore had no advice on where to search the topic? I can be reached at SteeleMagnolia@massagetherapy.com.

    Thanks Joanie

  2. Hook ups are from Brain Gym. However, I learned them through my Kinesiology training in my HHC course by Laura Jacobs in Pleasant Grove, UT. Helps to integrate the left and right side of the brain. My ADHD News Tips are from Dr. Mary Jo Wagner, she also teaches these quick brain exercises. See my ADHD News Tips blog posts for more information on Mary Jo Wagneer's products & Services.
