B.R.A.I.N.

Building. Reprogramming Auditory. Development. Intergration. Neuro-pathway Organization.
One thing we all have in common is that we are each seeking to get our needs met. So many of us depend on our cerebral cortex to over compensate for the areas of our brain that are underdeveloped. This overload causes us to feel frustration, hopelessness, forgetfulness, anger, and exist in a constant "fight or flight" mode. Ideally, our lives should function with appropriate reactivity in any given situation, being able to handle any tria,l and problem-solve to find correct solutions. From my research and personal experience in the field of brain integration, I seek to empower others in their quest for true wholeness...to create their own miraculous life!

strong><Building: Nutritional supplementation, Food Ingredient elimination, 80/20 Rule;
Before we can begin to look at the development of the brain, we need to look at our diet, and the nutritional content that the brain is receiving on a daily basis. It is so important that we have daily supplementation of vitamins, mineral, and EFA's (Essential Fatty Acids). There isn't enough nutritional content in our foods as our bodies require on a daily basis to feel truly nurtured on a physical level. I have found in my own experience as well as in helping others that when our physical needs are not being met, our emotional needs suffer as well.
Equally important to proper daily nutrition is being more aware of the ingredients in the foods we choose to put in our bodies. So ingredient elimination is just as important as diet supplementation. Such as Hydrogenated oils, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Corn Syrup, Aspartame Artificial Color or flavor, MSG (Mono Sodium Glutamate), and Preservatives (just to name a few). The last but not least important awareness is the 80/20 rule with quantity and quality of food we consume. In our family, we try to eat whole foods through out the week avoiding high sugar foods as well. Friday evening until Sunday we cheat on our family diet allowing dessert, pizza, and sometimes soda if there is a celebration we are attending and it is being served. I try not to be too much of a Nazi food Mom on my kids, because I don't want them to go the other way and have a desire to binge on bad foods. Instead, on the weekends, anything goes, even though I try to make sure that the ice cream, cookies, fruit snacks, cakes, etc. are all from wholesome whole ingredients from the health food store. When I keep my home packed with the sweets and treats that are eliminated of the bad ingredients listed above, my kids feel like they aren't missing out, they look forward to every weekend, and when we are offered treats in another home, or from a source outside our home my kids always look at me with their faces turned up in disgust, and they say, "Mom, this tastes really weird, it tastes good and gross at the same time, because it leaves a yucky taste in my mouth, I don't like it." I always reply to those comments with, "Good! I'm so glad that you listen to your body and what it's telling you. It's saying that I like treats, but the one you're giving me right now has a few hidden bad ingredients that I don't want." I'm always changing recipes to be made with healthy ingredients, and they always taste better...more gourmet and decadent. We never have Soda in our house. It has no nutritional value, and it only hinders the body. However, when it is being offered and it is the weekend, I don't tell my kids no. My son has decided that he hates soda on his own, because it burns his throat he says. This makes me very happy that it is his choice, and not me making him.

Reprogramming: Thoughts, Belief systems, Emotional Awareness;
There are so many different ways to approach the topic of reprogramming. I will be posting many more ways some one would be able to first recognize the incorrect programming, understand where they acquired the programming, and then understand what they need to do to reprogram their thoughts, belief systems, or root of where their true emotions are coming from. It is important to understand that everything is created spiritually before it ever manifests physically. This is how thoughts become things. We are constantly manifesting the outcomes of our lives. There are all kinds of great buzz words like "Law of Attraction" etc. It's all true stuff, and very powerful too. However people have this idea that if they just focus on what they want, draw pictures of it, etc. that the "universe" will make it magically appear. A very important step is missing. We need to change the programming if we want a different end result. In life we need to get the lesson so that we can release the experience. We can't have a cup of water we want to drink that has mud in it and think that if we just add some clean purified water to it, than it will magically do the trick and be drinkable. We have to first clean out the mud before we can refill the glass with clean water. It is no different with our brain. Reprogramming cleans out the mud so we can fill it full of the good stuff. Some of the ways I have experienced reprogramming is in my Turning Point class at UVU (Personal Development). I learned about personality types and human behavior, and it helped me to understand traits in others, but more importantly why I do the things I do. There have been many classes I have taken from Psychology to kinesiology that has helped me to understand why we do the things we do (whether good or bad)...we're just trying to get or needs met. "Feelings Berried Alive Never Die" by Carroll Truman, Louise Hay from Hay House Publishing, Bach Flower Essence and The Flower Essence Society. The list goes on, and in the near future I will touch on each of these therapies and more. I have been able to recognize the inherent programming in myself and in my family through these sources, and then I am able to do something about them. Knowing is actually MORE than half the battle. Truth has the ability to shift and heal just upon hearing it.

Auditory Development: Auditory Processing, Focused Attention, Learning Abilities & Styles
Neuro-plasticity is the ability for the brain to change. The brain has the ability to reorganize it's pathways and make new connections. There are many programs out there that assist in helping people to accomplish this. We are researching different programs such as The Brain Highways Program, Brain Gym, and iLS (integrated Listening Systems). There are online programs you can do, or hands on in person programs, but none of these are in Utah. I am working on bringing these programs to Utah through getting trained to teach classes here or organize a group large enough that would invite these companies to come to Utah. Either in a workshop setting or series of courses that can be completed locally by Utah residents over time. There are many different learning styles in which we process new information. There's hands on, visual, audio, etc. There are so many fun tests like The Myer Briggs testing to determine the uniqueness of each of our learning styles as well as personality traits and what works best for us in life.

Integration: Exercise, Right/Left brain, heart/mind working together being single minded
There have been countless times in facilitating healing for others through kinesiology that we hit a roadblock, and can not continue until we address that the individual is not properly integrated. We use some of the therapies listed above to hone in on how is the dysfunction of their habit, belief, practice, etc. serving them. Some how they are getting their needs met even if it is just temporary feelings that mimic wholeness. As soon as we can use our different tools to uncover the lie, we can then look at truth, and see how we can get the heart and mind wanting the same thing again. Lots of times, polarities are reversed, and it requires actual physical brain exercise to correct it. Brain Gym, Brain Highways, and iLS Program specializes in this area of expertise among other therapies listed above in Reprogramming. Physical Brain Exercise produces different neurotransmitters that make us feel good (endorphin), and puts the right and left side of our brain in sink as well.

Neuro-pathway Organization: The Mood Cure and Neuro-plasticity
There are different kinds of neurotransmitters firing and chemicals/hormones being produced by the brain that are necessary to feeling that sense of well being. When you feel unbalanced whether it be in anger, fear, forgetfulness (the list goes on), it is because of an imbalance of chemicals in the brain that are vital to showing up everyday as a whole functioning human being. I have been following The Mood Cure therapy program for my son for over 3 years now. It is amazing how fast it works. He could be throwing a temper tantrum, and in 15 minutes of giving him GABA, or 5-HTP, and he is calm. When the chemicals in our brain are not present, or balanced to the levels necessary, we begin to self medicate. This shows up in an addictive practice, substance, relationship (co-dependency), etc. We are trying to find the missing link to feeling wholeness. Only if not done properly we may be harming ourselves more as a side effect from seeking temporary wholeness. Most people don't know that there are healthy solutions to balancing the chemicals that effect our emotions and ultimately rule our lives.
In a nutshell we are all seeking to get our needs met in different ways, but the correct formula is:

Diet + Supplementation + Exercise (Physical/Brain) = True Authentic Wholeness

  2. Hi Kimberly, you hit the nail on the head. I came here after finding your xylitol marshmallow recipe so I decided to have a look around your site and this first article you wrote is so much in line with my thinking nowadays, almost as if I am taking the exct same path now that you were taking almost exactly 7 years ago to the date! So surreal. Everything you said, from nutrition, to the supplementation, the mood cure, the mind/heart connection, etc. It's all completely true. I love what you said about depending on "our cerebral cortex to over compensate for the areas of our brain that are underdeveloped." That's exactly what it feels like until we start actually caring for ourselves in the right way and giving our brain what it needs. If we don't give our brain what it needs, everything else will be out of wack. And it also starts in our digestive system. If our gut is bad (i.e. not enough good bacteria to keep everything in balance) neither our body nor our brain will get what it needs. I know you don't write much anymore, but I'm sure you've helped so many people along the way, so I want to encourage you to continue to help those who come across your path and inform them with your knowledge :)
