Asparagus -- Who knew ?
Several years ago, I had a man seeking asparagus for a friend who had cancer. He gave me a photocopied copy of an article, entitled, ‘Asparagus for cancer' printed in Cancer News Journal, December 1979. I will share it here, just as it was shared with me:
I am a biochemist, and have specialized in the relation of diet to health or over 50 years. Several years ago, I learned of the discovery of Richard R. Vensal, D.D.S. that asparagus might cure cancer. Since then, I have worked with him on his project. We have accumulated a number of favorable case histories. For the treatment, asparagus should be cooked before using, and therefore canned asparagus is just as good as fresh.
[However, make sure the packaging of the can isn't laiden with chemicals. I would rather use freshly steamed Asparagus, followed by blending because this way I know that the nutrients weren't cooked out of the veggies by over heating, or extended periods of cooking time ~Kimberly Gingras HHC].
I have corresponded with the two leading canners of asparagus, Giant and Stokely, and I am satisfied that these brands contain no pesticides or preservatives. Place the cooked asparagus in a blender and liquefy tomake a puree, and store in the refrigerator. Give the patient 4 full tablespoons twice daily, morning and evening. Patients usually show some improvement in 2-4 weeks. It can be diluted with water and used as a cold or hot drink. This suggested dosage is based on present experience, but certainly larger amounts can do no harm and may be needed in some cases. As a biochemist I am convinced of the old saying that `what cures can prevent.' Based on this theory, my wife and I have been using asparagus puree as a beverage with our meals. We take 2 tablespoons diluted in water to suit our taste with breakfast and with dinner. I take mine hot and my wife prefers hers cold. For years we have made it a practice to have blood surveys taken as part of our regular checkups. The last blood survey, taken by a medical doctor who specializes in the nutritional approach to health, showed substantial improvements in all categories over the last one, and we can attribute these improvements to nothing but the asparagus drink.
As a biochemist, I have made an extensive study of all aspects of cancer, and all of the proposed cures. As a
result, I am convinced that asparagus fits in better with the latest theories about cancer. Asparagus contains a good supply of protein called histones, which are believed to be active in controlling cell growth.. For that reason, I believe asparagus can be said to contain a substance that I call cell growth normalizer. That accounts for its action on cancer and in acting as a general body tonic. In any event, regardless of theory, asparagus used as we suggest, is a harmless substance.
The FDA cannot prevent you from using it and it may do you much good. It has been reported by the US National Cancer Institute, that asparagus is the highest tested food containing glutathione, which is considered one of the body's most potent anticarcinogens and antioxidants.
This post is from an email sent to me by my Aunt Julia. Grandma died of cancer, and so did quite a few of her siblings and parents. The name of the 'Biochemist' was not listed in the email.

Lower vs Higher Level Needs of Our Brain/Body Chemistry
"Lower level needs including
physiological and safety needs are
prioritized before higher level needs
such as love and belonging, esteem
and self actualization can be met. If
one is merely trying to survive, one
cannot express or experience love,
belonging, or intimacy, much less
be confident, learn, problem solve,
and show empathy and acceptance
of others. Some of the very qualities
that make us distinctively human
are impaired."

March is not only Brain Injury Awareness Month, but March 14-20 is Brain Awareness Week
An annual opportunity to raise public awareness about brain related research around the world. Advanced Brain Technologies is proud to participate as a BAW partner with The Dana Foundation, and we have chosen to devote this issue to the brain and to traumatic brain injury. We are particularly pleased to feature two articles written by providers who have used The Listening Program® as a treatment modality for adults with brain injuries. We have had many inquiries about the potential effectiveness of both TLP and BrainBuilder® for adults with brain injuries and we hope that these articles will shed more light on the potential for recovery of function that might have been deemed impossible by many professionals just a few years ago. Enjoy and please share your own success story. Many providers have had such success with The Listening Program through the years that we no longer get to hear as many of the great stories we once did. We want to be able to share more of those triumphs with families who are looking at ABT for possible benefits for their loved ones.

The Mood Cure...Amino Acid Therapy and More...Who is Julia Ross?
"The Mood Cure Program is the foundation of my platform..."Boosting B.R.A.I.N. Activity!"
~ Mrs. Montana International 2011; Kimberly Gingras HHC
Julia Ross is a pioneer in the field of nutritional psychotherapy and a specialist in the treatment of eating disorders and addictions. She has founded and directed six successful recovery programs since 1980 in the San Francisco Bay Area. Some of her favorite achievements include starting Northern California's first treatment program for food addicts and the area's first programs for drug-addicted adolescents and their families. Receiving a state award for her work with diabetes and addiction in California's Native American tribal clinics is another of her most treasured achievements.
In 1980, Ross began hiring nutritionists to research the link between biochemistry, emotions, and addiction. By 1986 this exploration had led to the creation of an exciting new model of treatment that combined innovative nutritional therapy and holistic medical care with conventional counseling and education. This new model gave hope to the 90% of addicts of all kinds who were unable to sustain recovery through traditional programs. In 1988 Ross founded The Recovery Systems Clinic in Mill Valley, California, an outpatient program that further developed this model, with a special focus on treating people with dieting disorders and carbohydrate addictions.
Ross is a popular and compelling speaker who has made hundreds of presentations to introduce the public to the extraordinary benefits of nutrient therapy and biochemical rebalancing. In addition to a busy lecture schedule in California and throughout the US and Canada, Julia provides intensive trainings for professionals on how to successfully treat eating disorders, mood problems and chemical dependency. She has frequently taught courses in John F. Kennedy University's graduate psychology program in Orinda, California, and at the University of California, Berkeley Extension's Addiction Counseling Certificate Program.
Ross' best-selling book, The Diet Cure, has sold over 150,000 copies in the U.S, the U.K. and Australia. When the Diet Cure book proposal was first sent to the New York publishing houses it created a sensation. Seven publishers bid on it because of its unique approach to the top selling subject in America: Dieting. Julia has recently completed a second book, The Mood Cure, released in paperback in 2004 and a finalist for "The Books for a Better Life Award." The many publications that have featured Ross' work include: Psychology Today, San Francisco Examiner Magazine, Alternative Medicine and Natural Health.
Ross has frequently appeared as an expert on radio and television programs. Her first national TV appearance, on a 1997 news segment about amino acid therapy, generated 50,000 calls to the producers.
Julia holds an M.A. in Clinical Psychology, as well as a California marriage and family therapy license. She is the Executive Director of The Recovery Systems Clinic in Mill Valley, California.

From Kimberly Gingras HHC~
This program is the main "chunk" that made up my son's "Program" that I used on a daily basis for his healing. Over 1 1/2 years time I was able to get him re-diagnosed from Autistic to ADHD (through his Doctor, and team of professionals in the special education department at his school) Thanks in majority to this program. We no longer "Label" him anymore with diagnosis, and we do follow The Mood Cure program still. It makes all the difference. My son is just a poster child for all of us. We are all in need of this wholeness, and we seek to fill the holes in our own lives (in our own way), through many forms of addictive habits. I love this quote by Julia Ross, because it is Sooo True! "I'm proposing that much of our increasing emotional stress stems from easily correctable malfunctions in our brain and body chemistry - malfunctions that are primarily the result of critical, unmet nutritional needs."
